The cherry chest of drawers

is missing one brass fitting

that holds the handle in its place.

 

The handle is resting in the

bottom of the middle drawer.

The one brass fitting’s lost.

 

That chest would be an heirloom—

solid, lovely, whole—

if not for one lost fitting

 

that destroys more

than logic should allow.
